This year's event is a commemoration and celebration of the life of John E. Strauss, a Founding Member of the New River Valley Chapter, and a driving force in its success. John died of pancreatic cancer on October 27th, 2009. He was a patriot, a decorated veteran, a champion of the rights of all Americans to keep and bear arms, and a staunch supporter of the goals and aspirations of FONRA. He was an NRA certified Instructor, an Eagle Scout and adult Boy Scout leader and a role model to innumerable young people. He is sorely missed by all of us who knew and loved him.
